Play One Up

Play One Up is an esports platform which offers on-demand competitive matchups for players, while allowing them to connect and compete for cash prizes.

The platform ensures payment goes to the winner with dedicated escrow accounts. Players compete on either an Xbox, PlayStation or PC. The platform currently supports games such as Fortnite, Madden 20, NHL 20, NBA 2K20, FIFA 20, and Call of Duty.

Key customers and partnerships

The platform has 130,000 registered users and claims it facilitated 30,000 one-on-one matches in April 2020.

In September 2023 , the company collaborated with up to 20 NBA players to launch the One Up x NBA 2K24 Championship Series, featuring a USD 1 million prize pool. The participants are registered through the mobile app.

Funding and financials

The platform raised USD 3.2 million in seed funding led by Three Curve Capital in June 2020 to boost hiring. In addition, the platform is opening the platform up for tournaments in addition to one-on-one play. The company received convertible debt financing of USD 3 million in August 2020 from Engine Media.
