Acquicent offers an online platform for trading digital and real-world collectibles (physical items such as classic cars, fine art) by enabling the creator/owner to tokenize one or more assets and raise cash by offering full or partial ownership to others.
The company is planning on two launches in 2021:
1) ‘Relic NFTs’ that represent ownership of digital rarities traded on the platform, some of which may be associated with real-world physical objects. The company expects these to be freely tradeable across the Ethereum blockchain following the beta launch of its digital collectibles online marketplace in Spring 2021.
2) ‘Stake Tokens’ representing legal ownership of shares in real-world collectibles. As this involves additional legal and regulatory work, with a potential holding period, the company intends to launch Stake tokens later in 2021.
The company reported an 80% increase in the number of potential buyers in the three from June to August 2020.
The company’s most recent funding event was a pre-seed round worth USD 1.75 million in July 2019.
