LesserEvil

LesserEvil is a better-for-you (BFY) snack company founded in 2005, producing a range of organic, minimally processed snacks including popcorn, puffs, and other crunchy bites. As of October 2024, LesserEvil's product lineup included Organic Popcorn in flavors like Himalayan Pink Salt and Avocado-licious, egg white curls, corn puffs, and onion ring-inspired "Moonions." The company also offers a range of snacks catering to children, under its LesserEvil Kids bundle.

The LesserEvil brand focuses on using clean ingredients and claims to avoid genetically modified organisms (GMOs), artificial additives, and preservatives in its products. The LesserEvil Kids snacks are gluten- and grain-free, kosher, vegan, USDA Organic, and non-GMO certified. Its snacks are claimed to be free from vegetable and seed oils, unlike other snacks in the market, which avoids the imbalance of omega-6 to omega-3 ratio in diets and decreases the risk of inflammation and chronic diseases. 

The company operates its manufacturing facilities in Connecticut, which allows for control over ingredient sourcing and product integrity. In 2022, LesserEvil acquired the protein bar company R.E.D.D. Bar to expand its portfolio into the bar category. LesserEvil sells directly to consumers through its website and other online platforms, as well as through retailers.

In 2023, LesserEvil became the first snack brand to receive the Purity Award Certification from the Clean Label Project for its product quality and ingredient transparency.

Key customers and partnerships

As of October 2024, LesserEvil's products were available across the US through major retailers including Whole Foods, Target, Publix, Walmart, Costco, and Sprouts. 

In June 2024, the company announced that its new Moonions product would launch in Sprouts stores across the US. LesserEvil also collaborated with the online platforms Amazon, Vitacost, and Thrive Market.

In June 2023, LesserEvil collaborated with Rind Snacks for the launch of the Piña Colada popcorn flavor, made from LesserEvil’s Himalayan Pink Salt popcorn and pineapple and coconut powders from Rind. The company then partnered with Disney and Pixar in July 2023 to develop a limited edition of the Lil' Puffs based on the Toy Story franchise.
