CycloPure is a materials science and environmental engineering firm headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. The company has developed DEXSORB, a novel adsorbent with high selectivity for removing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from water. CycloPure commercializes DEXSORB for multiple PFAS-related applications, including environmental testing, residential filtration, and large-scale water treatment systems.

The company's flagship product is the PFAS Water Test Kit, which uses DEXSORB technology to analyze water samples for up to 55 PFAS compounds. This test kit employs a unique sampling method where users filter water through a collection cup containing a DEXSORB extraction disc, which captures PFAS contaminants. Users then return the disc to CycloPure's lab for analysis, eliminating the need to ship water samples. The company has tested over 10,000 water samples using this method as of April 2024.

In April 2022, CycloPure launched Purefast, a consumer filter compatible with Brita countertop pitchers that removes 11 PFAS compounds to non-detect levels. The filter uses DEXSORB media made from renewable cyclodextrins and includes a program for the safe disposal of used cartridges. CycloPure also develops DEXSORB-based solutions for municipal and industrial water treatment, which are being piloted with environmental firms, municipalities, and government agencies.

Key customers and partnerships

CycloPure's PFAS Water Test Kit has been used by federal and state agencies, research institutions, environmental groups, and water treatment providers. In April 2024, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment included CycloPure's test kit in a pilot program to provide PFAS testing for private well owners in Bailey, Colorado.

The company has also partnered with universities for research projects. The University of Florida and the University of Queensland have utilized CycloPure's test kits in PFAS studies. Additionally, CycloPure is working with leading environmental firms like AECOM, Tetra Tech, GHD, and HDR on water treatment projects using DEXSORB technology.
