EDJX provides a platform on which users can develop apps and websites to be run on the edge. In October 2020, the company launched the public beta of its platform. The platform combines edge and serverless technologies, as users can run their serverless requests on “EdjPods,” edge locations near the users. Therefore, users do not need to maintain servers and instead can utilize the EdjPods to run their apps. This unlocks inherent benefits from edge computing, such as low latency, as EDJX enables emerging tech, including industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), and robotics.
Key customers and partnerships
The company uses partner-owned infrastructure to create its EdjPods and therefore offers infrastructure owners passive revenue streams (by hosting EDJX network and EdjPods on-premises). EDJX partnered with Cubic Corporation (in September 2021), a transportation and defense technology provider, to launch an IoT edge platform for military usage, dubbed the “Internet of Military Things (IoMT).” The platform offers IoT solutions from base to battlefield and reduces latency, thereby improving the emergency and disaster response of military and civilian first responders.
The company went on to partner with Zeblok, a cloud-native edge AI platform provider, in October 2022, to integrate the capabilities of its platform with Zeblok’s flagship Ai-MicroCloud. The partnership would enable Zeblok customers to leverage EDJX compute, network, and storage resources, enabling users to develop edge applications as well as build and manage their own AI ecosystems on Zeblok’s MicroCloud. The partnership also expanded EDJX’s market reach and distribution within the AI applications industry.
Funding and financials
In September 2022, EDJX secured USD 3 million in additional seed funding led by Intersouth Partners, bringing the total funding from its most recent seed round to USD 15 million. The company also announced that it had hired a new CEO, Benjamin Thomas, to oversee the day-to-day operations of the company and join EDJX's board of directors.
