Backed by North Carolina State University (NCSU) and supported by the National Science Foundation and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, The Math Door operates Math-Mapper, a free mathematics learning platform for students grades 2-12. Math-Mapper provides free access to practice problems and assessments and offers feedback, allowing students to grasp mathematical concepts at a pace corresponding with their ability and providing teachers and parents with updates on students’ progress.
Math-Mapper shows teachers and students what needs to be learned (through a math “learning map” based on established “learning trajectories”) and assesses and provides feedback on their progress over time. According to The Math Door, the tool’s diagnostic assessments that measure students’ progress along each trajectory set it apart from others. The assessments determine the extent to which students understand each concept and any errors in their understanding, and can be used to plan next steps.
