Based in Pennsylvania, Holganix offers microbe-based fertilizers with applications in agriculture, turf, lawn and landscape, and home gardening. The company’s “Holganix Bio 800” fertilizer product contains 800+ species of plant-friendly microbes including plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria, phosphorus and micronutrient solubilizing bacteria, nitrogen-fixing bacteria, and a range of fungi such as mycorrhizae and Trichoderma. In addition, the company offers other fertilizer products for turf applications under the Holganix Granular Fertilizers, PreBiotic Fertilizers, and PB1 brands. As of June 2022, Holganix sold its products online and via its distributor network across the US.
Holganix has conducted multiple field tests for its product on a number of crops including wheat, corn, soybeans, and potatoes, and has demonstrated the product's efficacy in increasing yields and profitability. For example, Holganix Bio 800, used by a commercial grower in Kansas on wheat, resulted in 4+ inches taller crops, and a 12–18+ bushel per acre yield increase compared to the control. In another case, the fertilizer used by potato growers in Idaho led to 10%–16% higher weight per acre, allowing them to earn an extra USD 330–440 per acre.
Holganix’s latest round of funding was in December 2021, when it raised USD 25,000 in grant funding from F3 Tech Accelerator.
