Indresmat

Indresmat is a chemical startup based in Spain and the Netherlands that produces bio-based thermal insulation products for the construction sector. The company offers three main solutions created using the “bioPUR” bio-polyurethane. KLIMA-PUR is a window and door framing material made from polyurethane foam. bioPUR foam and SAFE-PUR foam are bio-based foam insulations, which are alternatives for 100% fossil-based insulation foam solutions. These foams can be sprayed/injected or are available as sheets and panels. SAFE-PUR possesses enhanced fire safety characteristics.

The company claims the goal for using KLIMA-PUR framing material is to yield a 25% reduction in energy consumption of buildings while offering a low carbon footprint window (150–170 kgCO2/m2). Additionally, its bioPUR foams are made with 65%–75% bio-sourced materials. The goal for bioPUR and SAFE-PUR is to reduce >50% of the energy consumption of buildings while increasing fire safety.

Key customers and partnerships

As of January 2024, Indresmat is a member of a number of collaborative projects. These include BIO4EBB to develop bio insulation materials (January 2023); RE-SKIN to develop an integrated, low-impact solution to energy retrofit and upgrade buildings (January 2023); EASI-ZERO to develop insulation materials that improve the performance and sustainability of building facades (December 2022); SURPASS to maximize the rate of difficult-to-recycle plastics coming from waste streams (August 2022); ZERAF to develop an adaptive opaque facade for improving the insulation performance of buildings (July 2022); and MEZeroE to measure performance of insulation products and systems used in next-gen nearly Zero Energy Buildings (January 2021).

Funding and Financials:

In August 2022, the company secured a EUR 3.6 million  (~USD 3.95 million) grant funded by the Limburg Business Development Fund, the European Commission, CDTI, and ACCIÓ.
