Bond Mobility was a Swiss-American micromobility operator that provided a premium, sustainable e-bike sharing service. Their flagship product was the Smide e-bike, which offered car-like speeds of up to 30 mph while maintaining the agility of a bicycle. These high-powered e-bikes, referred to as S-Pedelecs, differentiated Bond from other shared micromobility services by providing longer ranges and faster travel speeds.
Bond's dockless model allowed users to pick up and drop off the e-bikes at any location, eliminating the need for designated docking stations. This convenience was a key selling point of their business model. In 2020, Bond acquired the Belgian startup e-motionlabs to integrate its technology platform and boost their offering.
After an ambitious expansion across multiple European cities in 2020, including Hamburg and Munich, Bond faced significant challenges with vandalism, leading to widespread damage and eventual insolvency in September 2021. The company's assets, including its e-bike fleet, software, and user data, were subsequently acquired by Agora Industrial Service.
