Mosaic Foods offers plant-based, pre-portioned frozen meals targeted at vegetarian diets, and it claims not to include artificial ingredients or preservatives. Ingredients include exotic vegetables such as purple cauliflower, jackfruit, and black rice. The meals (veggie bowls, risottos, noodle bowls) can be kept in the freezer and are to be heated prior to consumption. During 2020/2021, it introduced a range of new products such as oat bowls, soups, and family meals—claimed to be a first among CPG (consumer packaged goods). Customers can choose among a range of meal kits, with prices starting from USD 4.99 per serving (as of November 2021). Some meal kits are also designed to be free of dairy and wheat. In June 2021, it opened a 16,000-square-foot kitchen in New Jersey and extended shipping to California.
The company launched Mosaic+, a collection of curated meals, in partnership with notable chefs and food personalities in 2021. It also reported in November 2021 that revenue had grown by 15x since its inception in 2019.
Mosaic Foods raised USD 6 million in a seed funding round led by Gather Ventures in November 2021. The company planned to use the funds to expand its product offering, scale its direct-to-consumer business, and expand into offline channels.
