AirVet is a telehealth veterinary platform operating with a network of veterinary professionals. The company’s business model is different from others as it does not hire vets but enters into partnerships with hospitals and professionals who would accept telehealth sessions at their will (similar to the operating model of ride-hailing app Uber). As of April 2021, the company operated with a network of 4,200 veterinary professionals in 43 states in the US and 5,000 5-star reviews on the Apple App Store. Also in March 2021, the company announced expansion of its services to Canada. The expansion followed the introduction of “Airvet Assist”, an interface which reduces phone time and improves the clinic workflow. Airvet's services are priced at USD 30 per session, where pet owners are allowed to ask follow-up questions for free within three days of the initial session.
In January 2023, the firm announced that it is the first veterinary telehealth company to conduct a fully Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR)-compliant remote diagnosis and issue a written prescription in California.
Key customers and partnerships
In April 2021, AirVet entered into a partnership with MWI Animal Health, a distributor of veterinary-related products and services operating across US, Canada, and the UK. The partnership will allow AirVet to serve as MWI's preferred veterinary telehealth provider, and to offer connected care and tele-triage services for MWI Animal Health's Network of Veterinary Clinics and Hospitals.
Funding and financials
In its latest funding round in June 2020, the company raised USD 14 million in Series A funding led by Canvas Ventures. The funds will be used to expand AirVet’s telehealth veterinary network.
