Continuum Powders recycles metal waste into metal powders that can be used for 3D printing. This technology, known as Greyhound, produces an end-of-life solution for all metal products through the circular loop. As of November 2020, Continuum is reported to be serving over 20 commercial customers ( 10 domestic and 11 international) and having contracts with four United States Government agencies.
Further, Continuum was in the second stage of a large pilot project to remotely make powder from scrap metal as of November 2020. Since 2016, Continuum has tested over 110 unique atomization configurations, seeing yields improve from 28% to 92%. The company has also reported to have improved its production rates from around 10 lbs per hour to 85 lbs per hour, as reported in March 2020.
Funding and financials
Continuum secured USD 36 million in December 2022 to scale up production of 100% recycled commercial metal powders, support international expansion, and further research into related technologies and customer applications.
