New View Surgical is a medical device company that has developed the VisionPort System, a novel surgical imaging and access system for minimally invasive surgery (MIS). The VisionPort System simplifies laparoscopic procedures by combining the camera and access port into a single device, eliminating the need for a separate camera port and a surgical team member to hold and manage a laparoscope.

This innovative system provides multiple advantages over traditional laparoscopic setups. It allows for multiple simultaneous views of the operative field and reduces the capital-intensive equipment required for MIS procedures. By combining six pieces of equipment needed for traditional laparoscopy into two, the VisionPort System offers clinical, operational, and financial benefits across various stakeholders.

The VisionPort System received FDA 510(k) clearance in June 2021 and is intended for use in a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the thoracic and abdominal cavities. It is adaptable to diverse surgical environments, representing a significant market opportunity, particularly in emerging markets where it can make state-of-the-art technology more accessible by reducing equipment costs.

In December 2022, the first commercial case utilizing the VisionPort System was performed by Dr. David Earle at Lowell General Hospital in Massachusetts, marking a milestone in the company's journey toward full commercial release planned for 2023.
