Mowi ASA (OSE: MOWI) is a Norwegian seafood company and the world's largest producer of farmed Atlantic salmon.

Mowi was founded in the 1960s and rebranded from Marine Harvest to Mowi in 2018. The company operates across the entire value chain, producing both aquafeed and salmon. Mowi has a global presence with operations in 25 countries and sells its products in 70 countries, primarily in Western Europe and North America. In 2022, Mowi reported its highest-ever profits with a turnover of EUR 4.9 billion.

Mowi's main products and services include:

  • Farmed Atlantic salmon

  • Aquafeed production

  • Value-added salmon products like smoked salmon and fillets

Mowi harvested over 475,000 metric tons of farmed salmon in 2023, its highest volume ever. The company produces one-fifth of the world's farmed salmon at its farms in Norway and Scotland. Mowi is also Scotland's largest salmon producer. Since 2020, Mowi has produced all its own salmon feed for its European farms at plants in Norway and Scotland.

In 2022, Mowi was ranked the "most sustainable" animal protein producer globally for the fourth consecutive year by the Coller-FAIRR Protein Producer Index. The company has set sustainability targets and is investing in technologies like advanced imaging and automated feeding systems to improve efficiency. The company is currently involved in an antitrust investigation by the European Commission over alleged anti-competitive practices between 2011-2019, which Mowi denies.
