Blumira offers an automated end-to-end platform to detect and respond to indicators of compromise (IOCs), ransomware, data exfiltration, lateral movement, and more in real-time to help organizations of all sizes without a dedicated security operations center (SOC). The company’s cloud security information and event management (SIEM) platform can be quickly deployed and integrated with cloud infrastructure and SaaS service providers, such as AWS, Microsoft Office 365, Sophos Central, Blackberry Cylance, Checkpoint, Google Workspace (G Suite), Crowdstrike, Okta, Palo Alto Networks, and Cisco FTD. The company provides its affordable, turnkey cloud-based solutions with enterprise-level security capabilities to mid-market companies.

The threat detection and response tools offered by the company automatically parses raw logs to cut through false positives and prioritizes threats based on MTTR (mean time to respond). Blumira’s security analysts perform threat hunting to provide clients with automated threat analysis and advice. The company uses multiple threat intelligence feeds, including paid feeds, and bulletins, proactively to block any incoming malicious network traffic from connecting to the network. Blumira’s Dynamic Blocklists automates threat response by blocking malicious IPs and domains on next-generation firewalls provided by Palo Alto Networks, Cisco, Fortinet, Check Point, Sophos, F5, and more. The company also offers pre-built remediation playbooks, virtual honeypots with response workflows for IT teams to contain cloud-security threats, such as malicious logins, and cloud misconfigurations. Blumira reports that it serves hundreds of mid-market companies with threat detection and response tools that are 5x faster than the industry average.

Blumira’s target customers span across the industrial (ICS/OT) security, financial services, and healthcare industries, with the need to meet data compliance regulations (PCI DSS, FFIEC, NIST 800-53, HIPAA). The company’s partners include Access Interactive, Networks Group, Lucidia IT, Ignite Security, and its customers include National Machinery and Fechheimer.

In August 2021, the company raised USD 10.3 million in a Series A funding round led by Mercury Fund. The company expects to use the funding to expand the availability of its cloud security information and event management (SIEM) platform to mid-market companies, build its partnership program with managed service providers (MSPs), expand the customer base, invest in technical partnerships with Cisco, AWS, Microsoft, and SentinelOne to extend the coverage of its cloud and on-premises applications, and to double its headcount to 80 by 2022, spanning three key hires, which include the head of product management, director of customer experience, and director of finance.

Funding and financials

Blumira raised USD 15 million in a June 2023 Series B funding round led by Ten Eleven Ventures. The investment was funneled into continuing recent growth, with the company reporting a 100% year-over-year increase in customers.
