UK-based CCM Technologies converts carbon dioxide (CO2) and other waste streams like ammonia and phosphate into materials such as fertilizers, plastics, and batteries. The company has developed a fiber that can absorb a large amount of CO2. This is then used to make a range of plastics such as polypropylene.
In June 2021, the company secured GBP 2 million (USD 2.7 million) from Innovate UK’s Sustainable Innovation Fund. In December 2020, CCM Technologies completed its Series A funding round led by Wittington Investments. The company had a pilot project with Pepsi to transform potato peelings (leftovers from making Walkers crisps) into low-carbon fertilizer. It does not, however, associate with utilizing captured carbon.
