Ceres Holographics specializes in developing holographic technology and solutions, focusing on the design, digital mastering, and replication of next-generation, thin-film Holographic Optical Elements (HOEs) for transparent display and augmented reality applications. The company's core technology, HoloFlekt, enables the production of films with multiple HOEs that can be seamlessly integrated into windshields and other glass surfaces. This process offers a cost-effective and scalable method for creating multi-display Heads-Up Display (HUD) areas on various glass surfaces.
The company's HoloFlekt manufacturing process replicates custom-designed holographic optical elements onto windshield-sized proprietary photopolymer films. Once integrated into a windshield, content can be projected by compact LED projectors within a vehicle's instrument panel for each display area. Ceres' technology allows for multiple display areas in a single windshield, each customized to OEM specifications in terms of size, position, and viewing angle. This capability enables larger field-of-view HUDs with greater system geometry flexibility, which Ceres claims can only be achieved through holography.
In April 2024, Ceres demonstrated what it described as the world's first in-plane HUD implementation with multiple, separate transparent displays on a single windshield. The triple configuration transparent display solution featured display areas measuring up to 400 x 300 mm, resulting in what the company claimed to be the industry's largest field-of-view HUD. Ceres' design methodology tailors solutions for specific vehicle geometries and windshield curvatures, defining projector specifications and allowing rapid customization based on customers' unique requirements.
