Based in Canada, Obruta Space Solutions specializes in spacecraft rendezvous, proximity operations, and docking systems (RPOD) to aid in satellite operations with a focus on orbit-servicing and orbital logistics markets. The flagship product of the company, RPOD Kit, provides turnkey solutions to enable safe, reliable, and autonomous orbital docking of spacecraft and is intended for cooperative docking missions. It comes equipped with all relevant hardware and software to enable on-orbit economy. Its RPOD is critical to many markets and services including inspection, orbital refueling, satellite life extension, end-of-life and space debris removal, and orbital station tourism.

Key customers and partnerships

In July 2020, the company was awarded a contribution via the Space Technology Development Program of the Canadian Space Agency for the purpose of a novel multi-target space debris removal feasibility study. Furthermore, the company was one of the 13 startups that was selected for Hyperspace Challenge, a business accelerator funded by the US Space Force, held in December 2021. Other supporting entities include National Research Council of Canada, Spacecraft Robotics and Control Laboratory of Carleton University, Creative Destruction Labs, University of Waterloo backed Velocity Incubator and Confers.

In April 2021, the company was a part of The Catalyst Accelerator cohort which was focussed on orbital servicing, manufacturing, and assembly and received USD 15,000 in funding.
