Lean Orb converts renewable and recycled fibers into compostable, disposable foodservice packaging and tableware products. Inputs include agricultural byproducts of wheat straw, sugarcane, palm leaf, bamboo, and birch wood productions. Through its recycling process, Lean Orb manufactures products such as plates, tubs, straws, trays, cups, cutlery, and other catering supplies. The company offers its solutions to restaurants, hotels, corporate headquarters, music festivals, schools, and other venues. In October 2020, Lean Orb won the HI-HERImpact Miami Pitch Competition and received USD 25,000 funding.
In August 2019, the company partnered with Miami Beach’s Chamber of Commerce to create sustainable alternatives for single-use tableware and catering supplies. Lean Orb also partnered with the Four Seasons, The W Hotel, Cambridge Innovation Center, and other restaurant groups to help them phase out single-use plastics. As of December 2020, the company served 80+ businesses in Florida including hotels, schools, restaurants, and bars. It has also eliminated the use of 8 million units of single-use plastics from circulation.
