Founded in 2019 by NYU professor and entrepreneur, Scott Galloway, Section4 offers elite business school education  for individuals seeking to update their skills and businesses seeking to upskill their workforce through access to premier business school instructors. Online courses are delivered in the form of intensive “sprints” that combine synchronous lectures and community features with asynchronous video lessons and case studies. Several “sprints” based on a functional topic form a collective “stack”. As of March 2021, more than 10,000 students from more than 4,000 businesses across 97 countries had enrolled in Section4. About 45% of the platform’s students are based outside the US.

In March 2021, the company raised USD 30 million in Series A funding to expand the curriculum for its direct-to-consumer offering, and expand its subscription-based enterprise platform. The company also announced the addition of professors from New York University (NYU) Stern, Kellogg, Stanford University, and Berkeley Haas to its faculty.
