Mimik provides a software platform that enables organizations to convert devices and sensors into data-processing cloud servers. The platform enables time-critical process workloads to be handled on edge devices while other functions are handled by a central cloud. Mimik caters to a range of industries, including connected fitness, smart manufacturing, connected cars, drones, and residential Internet of Things (IoT), among others.
Mimik partnered with IBM in December 2020 to build artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled collaborative workflow solutions to accelerate automation and digitization in manufacturing, retail, IoT, and healthcare applications.
Converting devices to edge servers enables faster data processing, and has been used effectively for monitoring worker safety. In January 2021, Mimik expanded its capabilities to the mining industry by broadening its platform to include sensors on mining equipment. The platform enables devices to more quickly provide information to operators and to each other, which can be used to avoid potential accidents. The communication between devices can even take place without internet connectivity, which is vital due to remote mining sites that have weak internet connections.
In August 2022, Mimik received USD 2 million from a grant led by SCALE AI. Mimik along with Flybits, TD Bank Group, Toronto Metropolitan University, and a consortium of ventures and institutions, is developing a data ecosystem and a predictive solution to help businesses overcome supply chain disruptions
