Germany-based CUREOsity offers multilingual VR-based gamified therapy solutions for users with neurological and mental impairments such as stroke, craniocerebral trauma, cerebral palsy, Parkinson's, paraplegia, dementia, depression, and anxiety. The company provides six therapy modules that are CE certified as medical devices and are compatible for use beside the patient's bed.
The modules are 1) Cactive for attention simulation in severely affected patients; 2) Cmoto for upper extremity motor training; 3) Ccogni for cognitive and sensory training; 4) Cdaily for practice on the use of tools or utensils; 5) Crelax for neuroregulation and pain relief; and 6) Cfinger to train motor skills and hand coordination. Specific experiences include Target Archery to train concentration, Kite Flying in Iceland to promote selective attention, and fine motor skills exercises.
The system is mobile and wirelessly connects the patient's headset to the therapist's control tablet for contact-free therapy. The CUREO system also provides physicians with automated training plans that adapt to the changing needs of patients, along with a progress visualizer to track progress over time. The company's pilot program indicated that 97% of patients would undergo its VR therapy again, and 95% reported that it had a positive impact on their readiness and motivation for therapy. In January 2023, the company launched CUREO 3, which provided additional gamification programs, greater multilingual support, and faster hardware calibration.
CUREosity sells its products direct-to-consumer alongside distributions to establishments such as clinics, medical practices, and retirement homes.
