Gen.G (formerly known as KSV Esports) is an esports organization with offices in Los Angeles, Seoul, and Shanghai that competes in games including Valorant, PUBG, Apex Legends, Counter Strike, and League of Legends. Forbes ranked Gen.G as the 6th most valuable esports organization in the world with a value of USD 185 million as of December 2020. The group’s portfolio of 8 teams have won 7 world championships as of March 2021. Gen.G has established partnerships with a range of companies including LG, Eastern Michigan University, Puma, Bumble, and McDonald’s among others. As of May 2021, the organization has amassed USD 5.8 million in total prize winnings with almost 65% of that total coming from PUBG esports.
In May 2024, Gen.G acquired YOUR.GG, the League of Legends data analysis and networking platform, to integrate YOUR.GG’s analytical tools and enhance its offerings.
Key customers and partnerships
In June 2023, the company partnered with Manchester City for the creation of engagement opportunities for fans and the creation of co-branded merchandise. Previously, in September 2022, Gen.G partnered with synthetic motor oil brand Mobil 1 to launch men’s and women’s Rocket League esports teams which will compete under the brand “Gen.G Mobil 1 Racing.”
In March 2021, the company partnered with the University of Kentucky (UK) to host an invitational competition. A total of nine universities will compete in League of Legends, Rocket League, and VALORANT tournaments, from the 12th to 14th of March 2021. Further, in May 2021, the organization announced a deeper integration with the university when it announced that its 2K League team, Gen.G Tigers, will relocate to a facility at the University of Kentucky. The organization remains the sole non-NBA affiliated team in the league.
