Narrative is a Swedish company that develops wearable cameras designed for lifelogging - automatically capturing moments throughout the day. Their flagship product, the Narrative Clip, is a small wearable camera that takes a photo every 30 seconds. The first version, launched in 2013 after a successful Kickstarter campaign, had a 5-megapixel camera and 8GB of storage. In 2016, Narrative released the Clip two with improved features like an 8-megapixel camera, wireless connectivity, interchangeable mounts, and the ability to capture videos.
The Narrative Clips are designed to be discreet and hands-free, clipping onto clothing or accessories. Photos are uploaded to the company's cloud service, where they are organized into "Moments" based on time, location, and other data. Users can view, share, and manage their photos through Narrative's web and mobile apps.
While convenient for capturing life's spontaneous moments, the always-on nature of the Narrative Clip raised some privacy concerns. However, the company aimed to address this through design elements like a prominent lens to indicate recording.
After facing financial troubles in 2016, Narrative was acquired by a new company called Third Dot, formed by former employees. Third Dot continues to operate the service and sell the Clip two to existing users.
