LEDCity

LEDCity is a Swiss technology company founded in 2017 by Patrik Deuss and Florian Gärtner. The company has developed an intelligent, sensor-controlled lighting system designed for commercial buildings. LEDCity's innovative solution integrates up to five sensors in each luminaire, enabling the automatic adjustment of light intensity and duration based on real-time data such as brightness, movement, humidity, temperature, and CO2 levels. This advanced technology results in remarkable energy savings of up to 90% compared to conventional fluorescent tubes and around 80% compared to standard LED lighting systems with motion detectors.

LEDCity's lighting system not only optimizes energy consumption but also provides valuable data insights that can be leveraged to enhance operational efficiency. The collected data can be utilized for various purposes, such as integrating with security systems, deploying cleaning staff more effectively, or optimizing building ventilation. With a modular approach and a manufacturer-independent standard, LEDCity's intelligent light sources can be easily retrofitted into existing lamp holders, offering a cost-effective and seamless installation process.

The company's products have been adopted by prominent clients, including Zurich Airport, the Dolder Grand Hotel, and the University of Zurich. As of 2023, LEDCity employed around 45 people and operated in three countries: Germany, Spain, and Switzerland. In recognition of its innovative solution and environmental impact, LEDCity was awarded the prestigious "Green Business Award 2023" in Switzerland, valued at 25,000 Swiss francs.

In 2023, LEDCity had already saved approximately 42,200,000 kWh of energy, 7,650,000 kg of CO2 emissions, and the annual electricity consumption equivalent to 14,050 households through its implemented projects. The company aims to achieve even greater impact by 2030, with a goal of saving an amount of electricity equivalent to the output of a nuclear power plant.
