The company focuses on Longevity Through Nutrition (hence the name L-Nutra). Their disruptive science is referred to as juventology which aims to explore ways to slow down aging. One of the key discoveries of the company included benefits of periodic fasting (fasting for over two days) which includes inducing a special stress leading to cellular rejuvenation – a mechanism for slowing cellular aging. In addition it was also discovered that periodic fasting may be used to treat diseases by triggering this survival defense mode.

Their discovery of Fasting Mimicking Technology (FMT), discovered and developed at the Longevity Institute of the University of Southern California, is plant-based nutrition that enables the body to enter into a beneficial fasting state without triggering the cells’ nutrient sensors, allowing you to eat food. and eliminates the need to do a water-only starvation fast.

The company’s longevity-focused dietary supplement products ProLon and Fast Bar both leverage FMT. The ProLon FastingMimicking Diet is claimed to give benefits of a fast while letting users eat food.Intermittent Fasting Bar is the only nutrition bar that can be eaten during your fasting window without taking the user out of a fasting state.

FMT was  awarded several patents both in the US and overseas and is claimed to be the only nutrition platform in the world with human research trials and fully-granted patents in the areas of longevity, cancer, Alzheimer’s, cardiovascular and auto-immune diseases.

The company had plans underway (as of November 2023) to launch the L-Nutra Healthspan program which is claimed to support users to adopt a healthy lifestyle over time by incorporating periodic and intermittent fasting, everyday nutrition, fitness, sleep, stress management, community engagement, life goals etc.

Key customers and partnerships

In November 2023 ,L-Nutra partnered with Lindora, Southern California's leading weight management and metabolic health practice, to use the science of Fasting Mimicking Diets to help customers at their 31 boutiques improve their metabolic health. Under the partnership, clients who receive L-Nutra products through Lindora would be offered guidance and supervision through Lindora practitioners.

Funding and financials

In November 2023 the company raised USD 47 million in a Series D funding round led by a personal investment from the CEO of biotech company Moderna, Stephane Bancel. The funds were expected to be used to expand the market for L-Nutra’s product, ProLon, globally.
