Landing is a flexible housing subscription service that provides members access to a network of over 20,000 fully furnished apartments across more than 375 cities in the US. The company offers month-to-month leases, allowing members to move between apartments with just two weeks' notice. Landing acquires apartments from multi-family buildings, furnishes them, and rents them out to members without charging any upfront fees or security deposits.
Landing operates on a membership model, where members pay an annual fee of USD 199 and then rent prices for the specific apartment they choose. Rent prices typically range from USD 2,000 to USD 4,000 per month, depending on the apartment size and location. All apartments come equipped with essentials like furniture, kitchen appliances, smart TVs, and dedicated workspaces to cater to remote workers.
In addition to its standard membership, Landing recently introduced a "standby" tier priced at USD 1,295 per month. Standby members can access the same network of apartments but may be asked to relocate with as little as three days' notice if a standard member books their current unit. This tier is marketed as an affordable option for flexible renters willing to move frequently.
Landing was founded in 2019 by Bill Smith, a serial entrepreneur. As of August 2022, the company had raised USD 237 million in venture funding and USD 230 million in debt financing. In October 2022, Landing laid off 110 employees as part of a restructuring effort to support long-term growth.
