Founded in 2011, London-based Kuato is an EdTech gaming company that has developed apps and games in collaboration with entertainment brands such as Disney (‘Disney Story Realms’), Marvel (‘Marvel Hero Tales’), Enid Blyton Entertainment (‘The Famous Five Adventure’), and ITV Studios (‘Thunderbirds Are Go’). Other titles include literacy-training games Dino Tales and Safari Tales, and Code Warriors, a coding game for 9-14 year-olds.
In January 2021, Kuato raised GBP 4.5 million (USD 6.1 million) in funding to launch the company’s first virtual reality (VR) title, ‘Panic Room’. Panic Room is a socially-interactive, multiplayer VR game powered by Kuato Studios’ proprietary ‘Actor/Director’ platform, where an ‘actor’ explores a 3D world on a VR headset, and the ‘director’ views and controls the actor's experience on a secondary device (such as a tablet, mobile phone, or PC). Panic Room has educational applications for parents, caregivers, and teachers to monitor children’s VR experiences, and also for professional training.
