EcoSync is a University of Oxford spinout that provides an artificial intelligence (AI) controlled property energy management system. The company's technology analyzes a building's temperature using a virtual representation or digital twin, monitors temperatures, and makes changes based on occupancy levels to reduce energy consumption. EcoSync offers Smart Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRVs) that are battery-free and maintenance-free, designed for commercial buildings.
The system allows building managers to control heating on a room-by-room basis, while users can adjust temperatures via a QR code available for each room. The centrally controlled management platform enables remote oversight and adjustment of heating settings. Additionally, the system includes a carbon meter for monitoring and managing carbon footprint.
EcoSync's solution aims to reduce energy waste by halting heating in unoccupied rooms, achieving 25-50% energy savings. The frequent data collection every five minutes during heating periods is vital for long-term sustainability planning. Studies at Oxford University showed up to 40% of heating energy is wasted in empty rooms, and less than 1% of commercial buildings are equipped with smart heating controls.
EcoSync's technology offers a high-impact, low-cost solution for energy managers to reduce carbon emissions and costs. The TRVs are installable in just 60 seconds and maintenance-free, making them suitable for extensive facilities like student accommodations.
In November 2022, EcoSync raised close to GBP 1 million in its second seed funding round, bringing the total funding received to over GBP 1.5 million through investments, grants, and seed funding. The company acquired a pre-money valuation of GBP 6,009,823 as of November 2022.
