American International Group, Inc. (NYSE: AIG) provides property and casualty insurance, life insurance, retirement solutions, and other financial solutions in approximately 70 countries. The company has been listed on the NYSE since 1984. In September 2022, AIG’s life insurance and retirement division, Corebridge Financial, was listed on the NYSE (AIG held a 64% stake in the company, as of September 2023). Net premiums written by the General Insurance segment amounted to USD 26.7 billion and gross premiums written by the Life and Retirement business segments amounted to USD 8.1 billion in 2023.

The company operates two main business segments: General Insurance and Life and Retirement. The General Insurance (~95% of total net premiums) business includes commercial (consists of property, liability, financial lines, and specialty) and personal insurance products (accident & health and personal lines). The Life and Retirement business (Corebridge is the holding company for this segment) consists of life insurance, institutional markets, individual retirement, and group retirement subsegments.

General Insurance operations are carried out in North America (~50.4% of segment net premiums in 2023) and internationally (~49.6%). Life Insurance operations are carried out in the US, UK, and Ireland. AIG is committed to reaching net-zero status by 2050 across its underwriting and investment portfolios.
