SwitchDin, an Australian company based in Newcastle, provides a universal software solution that enables energy companies to securely integrate and orchestrate diverse distributed energy resources (DERs) such as solar, batteries, and electric vehicles. The technology aims to build a cleaner and more efficient grid by allowing these DERs to participate in the energy system. SwitchDin's vendor-agnostic platform, Stormcloud, offers capabilities like virtual power plant (VPP) aggregation, microgrid-forming, and behind-the-meter optimization.
In June 2020, QCELLS, a leading solar company, invested AUUSD 5 million in SwitchDin, recognizing the company's expertise in the Australian DER market. This strategic investment allowed SwitchDin to accelerate its business expansion in Europe and foster collaboration opportunities with utilities and manufacturers. SwitchDin's software has been integrated with various battery solutions, including Eguana Technologies' Enduro system used by QCELLS.
SwitchDin's technology has been adopted by major Australian utilities and network operators, such as Ausgrid, AGL, Origin, Horizon Power, Synergy, Western Power, SA Power Networks, Yurika, and Simply Energy. In March 2023, PowerPlus Energy, a local battery energy storage system manufacturer, selected SwitchDin's solution to provide connectivity and control for its products. This partnership enables remote configuration, control, and monitoring capabilities for PowerPlus Energy's residential and business customers.
