Dublin-based Dataships specializes in automating privacy compliance tools for SMEs to help them comply with data protection and privacy regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Dataships helps companies to create their privacy policies, security policies, cookie policies, cookie consent tools, and data processing addendums.

Dataships has built a proprietary API to help companies build transparent data relationships with their customers by giving them rights to access, rectify, erase, and download their personal data, and push changes to the original data source to automate compliance tasks. This indicates that consumers can manage the data they share with companies, and any changes made to the data are automatically reflected in the company’s tools or website.

Dataships offers consumers an app that allows them to view their data relationships and send subject access requests to companies. Companies are responsible to respond within 30 days of the receipt of the request, or risk being fined.

As of September 2021, Dataships counts more than 70 customers including iClothing, Thérapie, Kerrygold, and Pax Financial Planning, and offers its compliance tools for EUR 500 (USD 584) per month, with an additional charge of EUR 150 (USD 175) per month for Dataships customer service.

The company received EUR 100,000 (USD 116,732) from the NDRC accelerator program at Dogpatch Labs, to accelerate its growth. In September 2021, the company raised USD 3 million (EUR 2.57 million) in a seed funding round co-led by the US-based Urban Innovation Fund and Lavrock Ventures. The company expects to use the investment to increase its headcount and accelerate its growth.
