Flatiron Health is an oncology-focused healthcare technology provider that offers several technology platforms for clinical trial management, data analysis and management, and management of point-of-care operations for healthcare providers. The company also offers consulting services for real-world evidence, offering consultations with its internal team of clinicians, scientists, and health data analysts. Flatiron additionally has technology solutions that specifically cater toward oncology-related clinical trials, data management, evidence generation, and healthcare services (in the form of a clinical decision support tool for treating oncology-related patients).

The company was acquired by Roche in April 2018 and operates as an independent affiliate of the Roche group.

The company noted that, as of June 2024, it had 3.5 million+ patient records de-identified and available for use in clinical studies.


Key customers and partnerships

In January 2022, Flatiron formed an alliance with Japan-based National Cancer Center Hospital East to develop a real-world database of patients with gastrointestinal cancers.

In June 2023, Flatiron announced a partnership with the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT) in the UK to gain access to clinical data of consenting cancer patients being treated at LTHT for anonymization and converting patient experiences into research-ready datasets.

In March 2024, Flatiron partnered with the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) have partnered to bring Flatiron's oncology-specific clinical decision support platform, Flatiron Assist, to MUSC’s Hollings Cancer Center.

In April 2024 the company renewed its partnership with the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), an alliance of leading cancer centers, which focused on utilizing real-world data to improve cancer care and research. Through the partnership, the companies agreed to work together to enable research through the use of real-world data, provide nationwide cancer centers with access to high-quality data, and collaborate to enhance the quality of care at cancer centers.

Funding and financials

As of September 2023, Flatiron last raised funding in December 2021, when the company raised USD 11.9 million in a Series D funding round. The details with regard to the investors and how the funds would be used were not disclosed.
