Founded in 2010 by Anshul and Sandeep Bhagi to bring hands-on coding bootcamps to schools, Camp K12 offers live interactive courses, primarily focused on coding, taught by industry experts for children aged 5–18. The platform is operational in 30+ countries including the US, Canada, the UAE, and India, and offers courses in Python and data science, mobile app development, AI and machine learning, 3D coding, game development, and more. The company also expanded into English learning with a two-year learning path for every age group. With a customer base of over 200,000 students (as of May 2022), Camp K12 gives students the option of learning with an instructor one-on-one, or in small groups in a gamified learning environment. As part of its English learning program, in December 2021, Camp K12 introduced a live, public forum for students aged 8–13 to get a chance to be featured on TED-Ed Student Talks.
In May 2022, the company launched Hatch Kids, a metaverse and AR/VR creation platform, for students aged 6 - 18. Camp K12 also reported that over the past six months, Hatch Kids recorded an organic growth of 1.1 million users across school, government and Ed Tech partnerships in 150 countries. Further, 75% of users stemmed from the US and Canada, followed by the UK, Australia and India.
Funding and financials
In August 2021, the company raised USD 12 million in Series A financing in a round led by Matrix Partners India and Elevation Capital.The funds will be used to expand into two new international markets, introduce a group class learning format, scale operations, and hire new staff across the marketing, engineering, and product teams.
