BRELYON

Brelyon, an MIT spin-off, develops virtual displays as alternatives to head-mounted displays commonly used for immersive experiences. The company claims to have developed the first non-headset display by incorporating wavefront engineering. Furthermore, Brelyon has patented light-field expansion technologies that generate panoramic virtual screens with a large field of view and layers of depth. As of September 2022, it had signed up 20 companies for its early access program and targets use cases such as gaming, enterprise meetings, virtual offices, and collaboration spaces.

Key customers and partnerships

In January 2023, the company partnered with Velocity Esports, an esports infrastructure provider and tournament platform to launch Brelyon Ultra Reality to Velocity locations. Ultra Reality consists of display technologies which made it possible to play video games on 120-inch plus curved displays. Previously, Brelyon established a strategic partnership with LG Display to integrate LG Display's P-OLED technology into its immersive virtual monitors in January 2022.

Funding and financials

The company’s most recent funding was in September 2022 , when it raised USD 15 million in a Series A funding round co-led by Lockheed Martin Ventures and E14 Fund (an MIT-affiliated fund). The fresh proceeds were allocated to expand operations and development efforts.
