System integrators: Helping businesses walk the sustainability talk
2030. Just eight years away. Just eight years for the world to achieve the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). And just eight years for Europe to reduce carbon emissions by 55% from its 1990 levels under the European Green Deal.
It is no wonder that Accenture has dubbed sustainability as the “new digital”—it is set to influence every industry and pervade every part of our lives. It spans environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues, from transitioning to a zero-carbon economy to human rights to inclusion and diversity. With eight years more to achieve the sustainability goals set by the UN and EU, this period is appropriately called the “Decade of Action.”
Yet, can these goals be achieved? What part can system integrators (SIs) play in helping companies set and achieve their own goals?
This Insight examines some of the corporate sector’s key sustainability objectives and how SIs are stepping up to support them.
