Ripple: The blockchain-based digital payment company
Ripple is a blockchain-based payment settlement system and currency exchange network that facilitates quick and cost-efficient cross-border transactions.
RippleNet, Ripple's payment network, enables near-instant, low-cost international transfers using the XRP Ledger and its consensus protocol RPCA, offering faster confirmations than Bitcoin's proof-of-work system.
In September 2023, Ripple acquired crypto infrastructure startup Fortress Trust, obtaining a Nevada trust license to expand its offerings beyond cross-border payments.
Ripple raised USD 200 million in a Series C funding round led by Tetragon (December 2019) to scale its payment ecosystem. The company also planned to launch RippleUSD in December 2024, a USD-denominated stablecoin.
Below, we present a detailed company teardown published by our content partner, Sacra which takes a deeper look at Ripple's product, business model, competitive environment, market opportunities and risks.
