Biofertilizers: using nature to nurture better crop yield
The US population growth has remained stable, but the farmland available for cultivation has been on a steady decline. In 2020, the available farmland in the US was at 2.72 acres per person—a near 9% drop since 2009. As such, there’s increasing pressure to improve crop yield, not just in the US but also globally, to meet the ever-growing demand for food. Naturally, the need for more crops calls for the right type of fertilizer, which is critical in increasing crop yield and ensuring more efficient use of land.
