There is a growing trend in the construction industry in which companies introduce advanced technology and software to improve productivity and safety, as well as reduce costs. This is referred to as construction technology, or “ConTech”.

ConTech has already gained significant traction in the US, where many startups established around the 2010s have significantly expanded their business in the last decade. Meanwhile, Japan and China have also been working on developing and adopting ConTech solutions. ConTech has attracted attention as part of a wider trend towards implementing digital technology, being used to tackle global labour shortages and improve productivity.

This report will look at instances of such digital technology being applied in the construction sector and the subsequent changes they have brought about.
