The Perks of Mental Health at Work

It’s a pretty weird time for the US labor market.
Walk down a street in the average American city and you’ll see Help Wanted signs on nearly every storefront and restaurant door. White-collar workers, most of whom have been working from home for the better part of 16 months due to the pandemic, are being asked to come back to the office, and many are quitting in search of a more flexible work situation. Companies are stuck trying to fill more open roles than ever while struggling to retain talent at the same time.
Simply paying workers more money might be an obvious way to attract and retain talent, but payroll is already the largest expense at most businesses. What’s less expensive than giving employees a raise? Perks and benefits. And after a stressful, sad, and lonely year and a half, mental health is top of mind.
