The supermarket chain Kroger has announced the extension of its partnership with Ocado, an online supermarket group and technology provider based in the UK, to construct an additional customer fulfillment center (CFC) measuring 200,000 sq. ft. in the southern region of the US. The exact location and construction dates are yet to be announced. The new facility will be developed in addition to the nine CFCs that have already been announced under the partnership, which was established in 2018.
Under the extended partnership, Kroger will also invest in Ocado’s in-store fulfillment technology to improve the customer pickup process from stores. Ocado’s in-store fulfillment solution is a proprietary software that assists workers in assembling orders and locating products more efficiently.
Ocado develops end-to-end e-commerce, order fulfillment, and logistics solutions for retailers. The company has obtained several patents for its technology.
