Klarna acquires online travel planner Inspirock

M&A

  • Klarna announced the acquisition of online trip planner Inspirock for an undisclosed amount. Following the acquisition, Inspirock’s employees will join Klarna.

  • Inspirock creates optimized itineraries that minimize travel time by checking the opening hours of attractions and recommending how much time to spend at each location. Users can filter travel destinations based on their preferences as well as share their planned trips on the website. At present, Inspirock has over 25 million annual users.

  • Through the acquisition, Klarna can leverage Inspirock’s technology to connect travelers to its retail partners in the area. Integrating Inspirock also allows Klarna’s 90 million users to pay for tickets to events and attractions on a staggered payment schedule. The acquisition is Klarna’s fifth this year, following the acquisitions of Apprl, Stocard, HERO, and Toplooks.ai. It is in line with the company’s strategy of moving into the social aspect of ecommerce by enabling its customers to create and curate content.
