Ukko Agro, a Toronto-based crop management software startup, has raised CAD 5.1 million (USD 3.95 million) in a seed funding round led by Emmertech. Investors Ag Capital Canada, Telus Ventures, Whitecap Venture Partners, and PIC Investment Group also joined the round.
The company plans to use the funds to expand its existing customer base, further develop its data science to accommodate more crop types (such as corn and barley) and geographies, and integrate other agriculture platforms into its software.
Ukko Agro also reported that it is rolling out a new version of its ForeSight platform, which it initially tested in 2018 for the crop management needs of farmers. The new version targets farmers as well as enterprise clients including crop input manufacturers such as weeding as well as fertilizer and pesticides companies. The new platform is expected to be launched in early 2022.
