ActiveCampaiign, a leading customer experience automation (CXA) platform, acquired Postmark (transactional email delivery service) and DMARC Digest (email authentication and monitoring service) for an undisclosed amount. This is the first acquisition executed by ActiveCampaign.
Postmark is an email delivery service that allows users to improve transactional email delivery rates without the need for a dedicated IP. The firm provides API documentation and support for a number of programming languages, including Rails, Node, and PHP, for users to migrate their email to Postmark services. The firm's clients include Faire, Minecraft, Betterment, Webflow, and Wistia.
DMARC Digest is an email authentication service created by the same team behind Postmark. DMARC is a technical specification for reducing email-based fraud and abuse. DMARC Digest allows users to identify, troubleshoot, and monitor email authentication issues. The services have been used by Basecamp, TED, Monzo, and Mashable.
According to Postmark’s management, the firm will remain as a standalone product, while Postmark’s entire team will become a part of ActiveCampaign’s team. The firm also stated that it will be exploring options to integrate its services with ActiveCampaign’s platform, while existing Postmark customers will receive a 50% discount for 6 months on all ActiveCampaign services.

Analyst QuickTake: Given Postmark’s specialization in transactional emails, which include email notifications for billing and accounts, order confirmations, and event notifications, the acquisition strengthens ActiveCampaigns service offerings for eCommerce and D2C brands, which have experienced strong growth in the past few years.
