Upward Farms launches new headquarters in Brooklyn, New York

Geographic expansion

  • Upward Farms (formerly known as SEED & ROE), which initially planned to open its new headquarters in Brooklyn, New York, by late-2020, announced the launch of the new facility today. It will be the only certified organic vertical farm in the Northeast region of the US.

  • The next-generation technology (automated production, fish manure, specialized greenery rooms) employed in its new facility will allow Upward Farms to increase its greens production by 20 times compared to its original facility. The facility will include a Monterrey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch and will also sustainably farm striped bass.

  • To date, Upward Farms’ ready-to-eat microgreen mixes can be found in Whole Foods outlets across Brooklyn and will be available at all New York City outlets over the coming months. The company claims that it expects to expand facilities further to meet the growing demand in the US Northeast and beyond.

  • Upward Farms is a vertical farm player that produces microgreens and fish using the aquaponics growing system, selling its products to nearby grocery stores.
