Amprius Technologies, a company developing silicon anodes for li-ion batteries as an alternative to graphite anodes, has received a USD 3 million contract award from the US Advanced Battery Consortium (USABC) in collaboration with the US Department of Energy (DOE) for low-cost, fast-charge (LCFC) silicon nanowire battery technology development.
The 30-month contract began in April and will target the development of 80+Ah cells that will meet or exceed 2023 USABC LCFC EV cell characteristics, including extreme fast charge performance and usable energy.
This is Amprius’ second contract with USABC and the company will share 50% of the contract cost.
