Bowery Farming, the leading US vertical farming company, has raised USD 300 million in a Series C funding round led by Fidelity alongside existing investors GV, General Catalyst, GGV Capital, Temasek, Groupe Artémis, and Amplo and Gaingels as well as celebrity plant-based diet enthusiasts Lewis Hamilton, Chris Paul, Natalie Portman, José Andrés, and Justin Timberlake. The round values the company at USD 2.3 billion after raising USD 472 million in total funding to date.
Bowery will spend the funds on expanding its network of vertical farms across the US, further develop its technology, boost R&D, and continue high-paced recruitment efforts.
The company reports a presence in over 850 grocery stores with more than 750% growth since January 2020 at retailers such as Safeway, Acme, Giant Food, Walmart, and Whole Foods. Bowery also reported more than 4x growth in ecommerce sales through various platforms including Amazon Fresh.
