  • OneFarm, a Netherlands-based hydroponic vertical farming operator, has announced that it is opening its first vertical farm in Newmarket, Suffolk, UK in partnership with Intelligent Growth Solutions (IGS), a UK-based developer of hydroponic vertical farms. The partnership includes a commitment to build 25 farms across the UK, including the Suffolk farm.

  • The Suffolk farm will be built in a used warehouse and will initially be a 69,000 sq ft farm with nine-meter-high growth towers with a capacity to produce 415 tons of produce per year. In the second phase, the size is expected to increase to 140,000 sq ft with a capacity of 1,000 tons of produce per year. Construction is expected to begin later this year with a target to be operational by the end of Q2 2023.

  • OneFarm plans to produce a variety of herbs and salad mixes on demand at its farm and has already secured agreements to supply selected retailers.
