Yo! Egg, an Israeli startup specializing in producing plant-based eggs has secured USD 5 million in an oversubscribed seed funding round co-led by Stray Dog Capital and NFX along with the participation of Surround Ventures and Secret Chord Ventures.
The funds are expected to be used to scale up production and expedite its expansion into the US market as well as start developing hard-boiled eggs and scrambled eggs and baking solutions for domestic use.
Following the influx of capital, the company will showcase what it claims is the world’s first-ever plant-based sunny-side-up egg and poached egg at the National Restaurant Association trade show in Chicago from May 21st–24th and expects the products to be on offer at restaurants in the greater Los Angeles area by the end of 2022.
Yo! Egg was founded in 2019 by Eran Groner, Yosefa Ben Cohen, and Nisim Ben Cohen. The company uses proprietary patent-pending formulations to create its plant-based egg products, which currently come in the form of fried, poached, and hard-boiled eggs.
