Imagindairy, an Israeli food-tech startup and developer of animal-free milk proteins using precision fermentation, raised USD 15 million in an extended seed round led by Target Global. Other existing investors that joined this round include Strauss Group, Emerald Technology Ventures, Green Circle Foodtech Ventures, Collaborative Fund, New Climate Ventures, and FoodSparks by PeakBridge.
USD 13 million was raised in its initial seed round held in November 2021 , making the cumulative funds raised USD 28 million, representing one of the highest earning seed rounds in the alternative protein sector to date.
The funding raised will be used to accelerate R&D efforts to launch a range of animal-free real dairy products and for additional hires.
Imagindairy, founded in 2020 is a company focussing on recreating dairy proteins through microbial precision fermentation, which it claims is identical to proteins found in cow’s milk. The company has further claimed that its proprietary platform can enable more cost-effective production of animal-free milk proteins, which can aid in achieving price parity.
